Another From the Trout Lake Art Festival

Another from the day at the Trout Lake Art Festival. I started this one at the festival and it was not working for me. Brought it back and reworked it some and now I am happy.

Very pretty. Love everything about it - mountains, flowers and that pine tree. Great finish!

Thank you Tatiana, I am happy with it. Thinking about title. Anyone have any ideas?

Donna, this is gorgeous! For some reason I just love the shaded area of white flowers in the foreground - much more so than if they would have all been sunlit. What did you change - composition? colors? If this were mine (I wish!) I would focus on the temporary beauty of the wildflowers in the title. "On Display", "Seasonal Performance", "Summer's Gift".

Hi Donna and thank you. As I was painting this the first time, a woman walked up and started talking about Richard McKinley and how he does oil under paintings. I have observed this at his workshops. This idea was in my thoughts as I washed off my PA work and started over with an oil wash. Same composition only this time I moved the horizon down to show less flowers and more sky. I was able to keep myself from over painting, and the oil wash shows through on the mountains and the greens around the flowers to create the illusion of depth. The mountains retain that hazy look with the transparent under painting showing through.
