Mitchell Point

I painted this from a photo taken last spring.  The other day while looking for something to paint with oils I came upon this and decided to paint.  I painted two little studies and then launched into pastel.  I am finding the oil studies are helpful in making a choice for a painting.  With a small canvas and a good sized brush, the composition needs to be something I can get that brush around.  Simplicity is the answer and so I am trying some new ideas and new compositions.

Beautiful light hitting the foremost hillside, and also the water over on the right.
Very nice work!

Thank you Ida. It was a cold, windy, and cloudy day and then suddenly the sun hit the far side and I snapped the photo. Thank you and happy painting.
