Fire! Day Five of the Pacific Northwest Plein Air 2011

I delivered my five paintings for the Pacific Northwest Plein Air 2011 show.

On the way home I spotted smoke.  It is very dry and the wind was up.  This looked like it could have been a train fire.  How to get home?  If the fire was burning on the Washington side the highway would be closed.  I chose the Oregon side and was able to stop for this photo.  It is amazing to see the helicopter dropping water, because it looks so tiny compared to the mountain and the plume of smoke.  The wind is blowing in the 20-29 range, not good.
