Celilo Park View and Buckley

I stood along the river the other day painting, again, in wind. This is what I came up with once I got out of the wind and worked on the same scene at home. The beauty of this place is not in the rugged basalt rocks, or in the water, but it seems to be in the wind and sky. The river and rock become almost insignificant under the sky. This is why I painted with a low horizon and I think this captures the feel and movement of water and clouds, of air!

Buckley is not a huge fan of painting in the wind. His chair become a kind of refuge and he keeps looking at me as if to say, "are you done yet"?
