Late Summer Early Light - 13" x 16"

This was painted from a photograph I took this summer of the Little Klickitat River. This is a WIP (work in progress). Nearly finished.

Below I have included the photo from this day. The first draft of this painting included all of the trees. I had to go back to this painting and start removing trees. I also included the Simcoe Mountains in the background from another photo. This is realism with some help from me.

Hi Donna, It's interesting to see to two versions of the same scene, but with different focal areas. In this one it's the light on the tree tops, in your previous one the ribbon of water. Both are beautiful!

That light at the top of the trees is reallllllly beautiful! It reminds me of a Scott Christensen oil painting. This might well be my favorite of all your paintings!

Thank you Adriana and Celeste. I included a photo of my cottonwood trees along the Little Klickitat River. Celeste is reminded of another artist. I am learning from artists such as Richard McKinley, Clyde Aspevig, Scott Christensen, and other realists. Then taking those ideas down to my little river. This little river, so handy to my home, has inspired many paintings.
