Trumpeter Swans Today

Part of being a painter means that as we drive along the highway I am always composing paintings.    Constantly composing as we go along sometimes leads me to miss detail, like these Swans.  But they are so bright and pretty they could not be missed.  These Swans may or may not make it into a painting, but it is the seeing of things that makes the day wonderful.

We stopped along the highway and I hiked up the road to get a shot.  They are very skittish and started to fly away, then came back around and right over me.  I could hear them call (trumpet) as they flew by.  In the upper photo they are catching the golds of sunrise, in the lower photo you can see the bright white.
