Gathering Information at Mt. Adams

A group of us met a Mt. Adams today. For me mentally I decided to gather information rather than paint a painting and it suited me well. This idea of information gathering and then using that information for a studio painting is something that works well for me. Other times I go for the finished painting.

I will work up something from the study I did today and then post that soon.....

Donna, please let me know how your information gathering compares with doing larger studio paintings from plein air paintings. I am never able to duplicate the feeling of the plein air. Maybe it works better to gather info, take color notes etc. and paint only one interpretation?

Hi Donna, yes I agree it is very difficult to get from plein air to studio, but if you compare to working from photo's instead of plein air studies, I think the study will serve you much better. At least that is my theory. Let's see what I can do. My photo's from the trip to the Aspens were much more intense in color than what I observed. I am going for what I observed, hopefully......
